Scientific and Technological Bioresource Nucleus

The Scientific and Technological Bio-resource Nucleus was created in January 2009 by La Frontera University in La Araucania Region, Chile. The mission of the Bio-resource Nucleus is to strengthen multidisciplinary R&D in biological resources and bio-processes associated with food production, environmental sustainability and human health; and further, to strengthen education, dissemination and outreach in bio-resources in the University, the Region and the Country.

Main Goals

To gather and coordinate a multidisciplinary research team including chemists and biochemists, molecular biologists, cellular biologists, microbiologists, agronomists, chemical and biochemical engineers, and medical and biomedical scientists to develop innovative products from biological resources and bio-processes which can be introduced by industrial partners for the production of useful bio-compounds.

To generate a scientific and technological platform with centralized laboratories which are highly specialized in genomics, proteomics and metabolomics, in order to provide research services both to the Nucleus and to external institutions such as universities and companies
